남자 이름 뒤에 쓰던 호칭이다.

one's love는 사랑이 아니라 안부다.

일상에서 쓰는 십진법으로는 틀리지만, 진법을 3씩 올려 계산하면 옳다. 20은 18진법으로 12(18+2)=4x5, 24는 21진법으로 13(21+3)=4x6, 이런 식이면 20이 안 된다.

아래 원작 시를 패러디했다.
원작은 벌을 예로 들어 근면 성실을 교훈으로 전한다.
개작 시는 벌을 악어로 바꿔 웃긴다.

How neat she spreads the Wax!

2장 마지막에서 작가 자신과 작가 주변인을 동물로 표현했다.

Duck은 목사 Duckworth
Dodo는 작가 자신 Dodgson(작가의 본명. Carroll은 필명이다.)

Lory는 리델 집안 맏딸 Lorina
Eaglet은 리델 집안 막내딸 Edith다.
Alice는 리델 집안의 둘째 딸이었다.

 

이 사실을 알면, 3장의 대화와 행동을 이해할 수 있다.

Lorina가 Alice의 언니니까
Lory가 Alice한테 "내가 너보다 나이가 많으니까

더 많이 안다."고 말할 수 있다.
